> Coventry (The Coventry Group / Coventry First LLC) is the leader and creator of the secondary market for life insurance, headquartered in Fort Washington, PA. Coventry was founded in 1982 by Alan and Constance Buerger as a life insurance consulting firm specializing in life insurance product development, marketing and servicing for the high-net-worth market. In 1998, Coventry created the secondary market for life insurance and coined the term "life settlement" to describe the transaction that enables policyowners to sell unneeded policies. Coventry has since delivered more than $6 billion to policyowners for their unwanted or underperforming life insurance policies. Coventry is the recognized leader of the life settlement industry and has been ranked the number one provider by total policies purchased and total face amount for more than 15 consecutive years.
